Collective Memory

The Collective Memory project is an opportunity to discuss historic aspects of the local area that have had an impact on the lives of the group members who live there. The project primarily involves group discussion on six general themes, during which the groups can work together and produce material highlighting the information they discussed. At the end of the project the groups will meet with each other and exchange their memories and research on the chosen themes in an oral history setting. The research and memories that the groups document during the project will be uploaded to the history links website, with the possibility of it being included in other media at the end of the project, such as individual pamphlets or a combined book.

The themes for the project include the following:

Childhood
Work
Sport/Leisure
Local history/Landscape
Tourism
Food
Family History

All group members will be encouraged during the project to source historic material including documents, photographs or personal research that will add to the storytelling process, and also so their individual contribution can be fully recognised.
